Recommended Tradesmen Commitment

We are fully committed to protecting your privacy. We collect and process personal information about you in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and, in particular, with the notification, which we have made to the Data Protection Commissioner under that Act.

What Information Does Recommended Tradesmen Collect?

Subscribing
When you join the Recommended Tradesmen community, we need certain personal details. These are your first name, surname, email address, phone number, gender, age range and marital status. We also ask you to choose a login name and password in order to access our onsite features.

Providing Feedback
When you fill in our rating form, we will store the information you submit. You will be able to review some of this information at any time from your 'My Account'.

Questionnaires
In the future we may ask you to complete voluntary questionnaires. We will process the results of these.

We will never collect sensitive information about you without your consent.

How does Recommended Tradesmen use my information?

Recommended Tradesmen collects information about you for a number of reasons:

We collect information to process your registration and help you keep track of your activities on the Recommended Tradesmen sites through your 'My Account'.

We use your email address to send newsletters to subscribers. You can cancel your subscription at any time by clicking on the link in the newsletter and changing the checkbox in your 'My Account' from subscribe to unsubscribe.

We use your email address to alert winners of competitions, before sending prizes. Winners' names will appear in our "Competition News" section within the "News" section.

We use your information to ensure that all of our registered users and feedback are genuine.

We use registered users' personal details in aggregate form so that we can constantly improve our sites and services.

We compile reports for retailers from our registered users' feedback. These will never contain any personally identifiable information. The primary reason for this is to improve 'e-commerce' for everyone.

Does Recommended Tradesmen share my information with anyone else?

We do not pass any personally identifiable information (such as your name, email address, home address) to any third parties. We do pass on information gained from your feedback to retailers in order to help them improve their performance. None of this information will contain anything that could identify you personally.

There are only two possible cases where we would pass on personally identifiable information:

If we are legally required to do so

In both cases, we will only ever pass on the minimum amount of information that we consider necessary to fulfil these obligations.

Our Opt Out Policy

Ability to update your personal details

You can edit your details on your 'My Page' at any time. Please ensure that these are always accurate. Should you wish to cancel your membership, please send an e-mail to webmaster@recommendedtradesmen.co.uk. We will delete your records as quickly as possible, and will never pass them on.

What are 'Cookies' and does Recommended Tradesmen use them?

Cookies are small files that web sites place on the hard disk of your computer. They are an industry standard, being used by most web sites. Recommended Tradesmen Ltd uses "cookies". These are unique identifiers which allow you to move freely around our site and use the features without continually logging on. It also allows us to track trends and patterns in the use of our services.

Recommended Tradesmen only lists UK-based retailers and will not transfer your personal information outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Some of the companies on our site are global and will have divisions outside the EEA. Consequently, we suggest that you read their privacy policies to find out if they transfer personal information outside the EEA.

Recommended Tradesmen contains links to other websites. Ensure that you read the privacy policies of any other site to which you submit information. Their privacy policy will differ from ours and we can take no responsibility for the information collected by them.
